The series “Traitors” is a three-part historical project created by Maria Pevchikh, head of the Anti-Corruption Foundation and one of the leaders of Alexei Navalny’s team.
These series have caused a lot of discussion among the Russian opposition and political emigrants: some agree with all points, some completely disagree with the series, and some confirm that a certain percentage of the information is correct, and some of the information is distorted. I have my own opinion about these series and I published it in Russian: Письма к русской оппозиции-2. О мини-сериале "Предатели".
A summary of my thoughts on the series can be summarized as follows:
1- the title “Traitors” is not correct, since in fact the story is about people who committed big crimes and remained unpunished;
2- a false context was shown as the democracy was already developed in Russia, but the truth is that “perestroika” and the transition period after the USSR were essentially the transformation of the country in accordance with Gorbachev’s agreements with European leaders on rapprochement and the creation of the mega-space EUSSR - USSR - Europe: When Paris and the Kremlin planned control and dominion over other countries; ( to read more articles about Gorbi’s period and fake democracy transition under “perestroika” title: 29 marzo 1987 - La lettera dei dieci: "Lasciate che Gorbachev ci fornisca le prove" / / L'URSS prima del crollo: 16 gennaio 1989 - Decreto sulla riabilitazione delle vittime del regime comunist), so democracy by fact wasn’t established, the institutions were missing, undeveloped or immediately broken: 6 novembre 1991 - Quando i canaglia dirottarono la Russia fuori dalla strada democratica
3- if we accept Maria’s logic about “traitors” as people who had enough power to build democracy, but betrayed the interests of the country and the hopes of citizens, then the question arises: why are all the other “traitors” not mentioned in the series? One of these missing “traitors” is Sergei Aleksashenko, who was one of the organizers and executors of the government Ponzi scheme that provoked the country’s default in August 1998 and the impoverishment of Russian citizens at least 6 times. Today Sergei Aleksashenko positions himself as a Russian opposition (!?), is one of the directors of the Washington based “Free Russia Foundation”, and lives a luxurious life paid for by US taxpayers. Aleksashenko, who did not pay for his crimes in the 90s, after 24.02 was one of the members of the McFaul-Yermak group on sanctions and one of the authors of repressive sanctions against Russian dissidents and Russian political emigrants. As we see in the third year of the war, sanctions have failed to stop the chekist junta’s war machine against Ukraine, but created collective punishment for those who had been fighting against the putin regime for many years. 4- The figure of putin is portrayed in the final episode in a very minimalist manner, which radically diminishes his criminal record and presents him as simply a corrupt bureaucrat, an assistant to the corrupt mayor Sobchak. This is a very big distortion and through occultation of facts. putin was one of the organizers of an international crime syndicate consisting of Colombian cartels, putin's Stasi friends, European banksters, the highest European aristocracy and the so-called "Russian liberals" Gref and Kudrin (also not mentioned in the film, does this mean that they are not ‘traitors’, is the rhetorical question). Due to his criminal activities and large-scale financial robbery in St. Petersburg, putin was also under investigation, but surprisingly this information was not mentioned in the series, only the already known report of Maria Salie is mentioned in the series (to read more articles about this, find the chapter in the following list of articles)
5- In the series “Traitors” there is very little dedication to the international context, although the investigation of the Swiss prosecutor’s office and the robbery of IMF loans were mentioned, but the full picture of what is happening is more outrageous. Trillions of dollars looted in all directions and by all means were taken abroad and, of course, the international banks were well aware that this were stolen money, but none of them did anything to stop the criminal flows or gave up their own profits from it: Crimini post-URSS: 1990 - FIMACO - La cassa in nero / / Who created putin?
